About Mesquite Academy
Mesquite Academy opened in 1993 and offers an opportunity for students seeking a non-traditional school experience. We support all 5 high schools and 10 middle schools in Mesquite ISD. Any student within Mesquite ISD who desires an untraditional accelerated style of learning can apply through their home campus.
Here at the Mesquite Academy we believe in helping you recognize your value, accelerate you in your coursework and connect to a career path. We do that by centering our focus around our four core values of belief, showing grace, having a growth mindset, and connecting to the community. These beliefs drive us to help you cultivate a quality educational life, as well as a quality life once you graduate and go beyond these four walls.
Our Programs
Middle School
The 7Up progam allows students the opportunity to complete 7th and 8th grade in one calendar year. Students spend one semester completing core 7th coursework and one semester completing 8th grade course work. Students move to a traditional high school campus the next school year.
Our Acceler8 program challenges our 8th Graders to complete all of the eighth grade in one semester and then transition into 9th grade to earn high school credits. Students move to a traditonal high school campus to complete all high credits the next school year.
Students are referred to the programs by their middle school counselors. Students must currenlty be enrolled in a Mesquite ISD middle school.
High School
We accept students currently in grades 9th through 12th. Students must apply and be accepted to the Mesquite Academy. Students must attend one of the traditional high schools or be zoned to attend one of the traditional high schools. The high school programs is not open enrollment for students outside of Mesquite ISD.
Students earn credits mostly through online courework while some courses follow the traditonal face-to-face instructions. Students must meet all of the state requirements for graduation as required by TEA. Students complete core courses and electives. Students are prepared for life after high school with trade school, college, or military service being highly encouraged.
